Kronos Kill

Posted in Gank, General Asshattery on December 2, 2010 by Gigis

The other day I was passing through the Kador region scanning belts and seeing if there were any juicy mission runners when I happened upon a Kronos in a mission.  I switched to my battle vigil and began the salvage and steal bit as the MR began to talk trash in local.  He reported, after I had cleaned half his room, that he and his corp mates had warned everyone within a three system radius about me being a ninja.  Oh noes..  Didn’t stop him from losing his ship!

I was happy to see one of his corp mates pop into local and was delighted to see a Cormorant show up on a short range directional scan.  I burned away from the warp in point to get a little range and as the Corm pilot landed I was locked up and fired upon.  I pulled out of range of the Kronos (who had been locking me the whole time) and drew the Cormorant with me.  Once there was nothing that the Kronos pilot could do I turned on the Corm and started killing him.

I used only one gun and my drone as I wanted it to take a while so that the Kronos pilot would be tempted to help his friend.  Attempt to help he did.  As the Cormorant pilot dipped into armor the Kronos turned red and I quickly finished off the Cormorant and warped to my Orca.

I reshipped into my Cane and warped back to the mission in time to put a point and start laying into the Kronos.  There were nothing his guns could do to me as I orbited him and as my neuts and guns worked their magic on him I saw local begin to fill with his corp mates.  A Raven warped into the mission area and I began to get worried but a quick check of my aggro timer showed that corp aggro had worn off.  I’m sure that the Raven pilot reported the CONCORD warning in corp chat.  I’m also sure that the Kronos pilot told him to shoot anyway.  I was lucky enough to get a shot off before CONCORD relieved him of his Raven.  Likely his sad report caused the other members not to join in on the fun.

As the Kronos dipped into structure and refused an offer of a ransom the Cormorant pilot returned in a Kestrel and got alphaed.  Then the Kronos became a Kronos wreck.

Sadly there was nothing yummy on any of the ships.  But you can’t be too sad about a Marauder kill!  There were no tears but here is the Kronos pilot’s Bio as a parting shot:

“Eve is just a game. People tend to get really worked up about it, and this is highly amusing. The best moments of Eve is when someone throws a hissy fit after you pwned them when they didn’t expect it. You often use the “it’s a PvP game-line”, but what you really mean by that is that the game is supposed to be exploited and won. No trick is beneath you as long as it lets you get a laugh at the expense of someone else. Everything is valid until CCP says it’s not”

My First Successful Mission Gank

Posted in Gank on October 27, 2010 by Gigis

Since I became a jerk, my attempts to ruin player’s days have been hit or miss.  I have attempted quite a few times to get aggro in missions and get back in time to kill the mission runner but those attempts have been to no avail.  The only success I have really had so far has been can baiting and can flipping.  While I have enjoyed working the belts of New Eden, there has always been a mission ship sized hole in my heart.  That hole has finally been filled.

After a few attempts at getting a pair of drakes to agress, I scanned down a Maelstorm, Mega, Catalyst at the same spot.  I quickly hopped into my Vigil and warped in.  After jumping through 2 gates, (one was 70k the other 50k) I finally found our fair friends running their mission and salvaging wrecks in the process.  The Catalyst and Maelstorm were in the same corp and their tag was on all the wrecks.  I decided to ignore the Mega and began salvaging and looting wrecks as well as run a ship scanner on the Maelstorm.

Hot damn,  someone has too much iskies.  Nearly fully faction fit with a deadspace XL booster.  As I got excited about the potential loot, I became puzzled at the red box around the Maelstrom.  Wait..  Red…  That means…..     I quickly warped back to my Orca and swapped out for the Cane and make the excruciatingly long journey 70k and then about 35k of the next one till the Maelstrom went off directional scan.  Oh well,  I had expected such.  I took the gate into the next room to see his corp mate in the Catalyst happily looting and salvaging wrecks and waited till I had about 7 minutes left on my timer and shot a wreck.  14 more minutes…

A little later the pilot left local and I ran to the next system to see if I could catch him on a gate.  I chose wrong and slowboated back to the gate and jumped back into the system.  As I jumped back into the system I had only about 2 minutes left on my timer.  As I lemented “the one that got away” I scrolled down to see the Maelstrom’s bright and flashy face in local.  I immediately warped to the mission and saw him show up on scan.  As I warped to zero on the entry gate he was not on overview but still on directional.  I began spamming the acceleration gate like a mad man, overheated my point, and hoped that he wouldn’t be out of range.

I landed 18k fired up my point and afterburner and began giggling like a child.  Drones came out of the maelstrom and they were quickly webbed and killed by my drones.  My armor cane quickly lost shields and half armor on approach to his 1200s but I soon settled in a tight orbit and without any drones or guns that could track me it was game over.  He tanked well until my two neuts sucked him dry and he quickly melted.

I knew that there would be some good loot in the drop as I had scanned the ship earlier, but I seem to have gotten lucky and nearly all of the shinys dropped.  1.4b total.  No words were exchanged in local as I scooped the loot and dumped it in my Orca.  I hope I will get threats of a war dec soon though.

Up to this point…

Posted in Gank, General Asshattery on August 27, 2010 by Gigis

So, it has been about 2 weeks since I gave up the honorable lifestyle of a 0.0 anti-pirate.  I have been selling off my assets to have some sweet (highly mobile) liquid isk and trying my hand at all the dishonorable professions of Eve.

I started with can flipping in belts and scored a couple of mining barge and hauler kills.  Most can flipped miners simply dock up or switch systems.  I’m trying to become more of an ass but I don’t have enough patience to follow and harass them so that got pretty dull pretty fast.

Until…

Last night, shortly before I was going to log for the night I found a small corp doing a mining op.  They had two barges and a hauler sitting there with a can in between them.  It was obvious that the barges were dumping ore into the central can for the hauler to store in his hold.  Being the intrepid ninja that I am, I drop my own can next to theirs and wait for them to put more ore in.

5 minutes later I was pleased by how efficient my Rifter was at mining! 2 minutes after that one of the mining barges warped to station and came back in a Drake and locked me up. Yes! Game time!

I began orbiting the Drake at 500m and locked him up in return but he refused to fire.  Suddenly, another yellow can appeared next to the remaining mining barge and I knew I would be able to put the Drake over the edge.  I broke orbit and flipped the ore into my can and started taking shield damage.

Quickly I put a scram on the Drake and webbed and killed his drones.  I was easily able to tank his heavy missiles once the drones were gone but wasn’t able to put down enough DPS to break his tank. Hmm.. what to do…

Enter super high-sec ninja carrier orca alt!  I quickly switched ships out mid fight and melted him.

At one point his corp mate switched out his hauler for a Coercer but never engaged.  The third mining barge kept on mining and even jetted another can of ore which I promptly took.

Thanks for everything Face Palm!
